Online applications to vote by mail in Alberta's October 19 referendum are now open through Elections Alberta's website.
Premier Danielle Smith is putting 10 questions on the ballot, including whether the province should remain in Canada or hold a second, binding referendum on secession. Albertans will also weigh in on constitutional and immigration reform.
Applications for mail-in ballots close October 9. Voters must return envelopes by mail by October 16, with photocopies of their identification. Advance voting runs October 13–17 across the province.
Elections Alberta has received roughly 22,000 job applications so far as it recruits 60,000 workers to hold the vote. Electors can apply by completing the online form at specialballot.elections.ab.ca, emailing info@elections.ab.ca, or contacting their local Returning Office starting September 21.
