The Calgary Flames' last home opener at the Saddledome will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, when they face the Seattle Kraken.
The NHL announced the home openers for all 32 teams on Wednesday, July 15. This October 1 matchup marks the Flames' final season at the iconic arena before relocating to Scotia Place, which will serve as their home starting with the 2027-28 season. The Flames began playing at the Saddledome in 1983-84, making this their 43rd home opener at the venue.
Following their home opener, the Flames will travel south to Seattle to play the Kraken's home opener at Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday, October 4. Prior to the home opener, Calgary will play a four-game pre-season slate, with home games against the Kraken on September 20 and the Vancouver Canucks on September 22.
This season will see 42 regular-season games at the Saddledome, thanks to the NHL's shift from an 82-game to an 84-game schedule. The possibility of additional games remains if the Flames secure a playoff spot. The full 2026-27 regular season schedule will be announced Thursday, July 16 at 11 a.m. MDT.
