The Calgary Flames are receiving trade inquiries on several players as they navigate their opening stretch in what is being called the first true year of rebuild after moving on from veterans. The Flames are 0-3 and have been outscored 16-3 through their first three games.

Morgan Frost is drawing interest. The forward is in the final year of his contract with a $4.375-million cap hit and will become an unrestricted free agent. He has scored once through three games this season.

Defenceman Zach Whitecloud, acquired by the Flames from the Vegas Golden Knights last season, is also seeing trade interest. The 29-year-old right-handed shot carries a $2.75 million salary for this season and next. Whitecloud was announced as part of the organization's leadership group before the regular season began.

Connor Zary, 25, cleared waivers earlier this week and is being watched as a possible trade candidate. The New York Rangers are believed to be interested in Zary, according to a report on Elliotte Friedman's latest 32 Thoughts podcast. David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported on the broader trade interest around the roster.

Flames management is in no rush to make deals at this time, leaving the door open for future negotiations as the season develops.
