A Calgary Transit bus rolled over after colliding with a semi-truck Tuesday morning, sending three passengers to hospital with minor injuries.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of Peigan Trail S.E. and 26 Street S.E. in southeast Calgary. According to Calgary police, three adults were transported to hospital in stable and non-life-threatening condition by Alta Paramedic Health. There were four people on the bus at the time of impact.

Lane closures were put in place following the collision to allow emergency responders to work the scene and investigate the cause. Traffic was disrupted in the area, but has since returned to normal as crews cleared the wreckage.

While details on how the collision occurred remain under investigation, transit incidents involving larger vehicles typically draw scrutiny from city transportation officials. The rollover underscores the vulnerability of bus passengers when a heavy vehicle loses stability, and is likely to prompt Calgary Transit and police to review traffic patterns at the intersection.
