Construction is underway on Calgary's Northeast Athletic Complex, a $170.4 million facility that will anchor a 35-acre site at the northwest corner of 80th Avenue NE and Metis Trail NE.
Ledcor Construction Limited was selected as general contractor in October 2026, with work beginning in September. The fully-funded project was approved by City Council in December 2025 as part of the 2026 budget.
The facility spans over 162,000 square feet and will include four multi-use artificial turf fields outdoors, a competition-sized indoor turf field, and Calgary's first competition-capable cricket field. Indoor amenities include 16 team rooms, four official change rooms, cricket batting nets, plus multi-purpose, media, administration, and maintenance spaces. Over 500 parking spots and pathways, green spaces, picnic areas, and a playground will serve the site.
The complex arrives as the city expands athletic infrastructure. The Northeast Athletic Complex is expected to become one of Calgary's largest athletic parks, serving competitive and recreational users.
