Canada's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign ended on July 5, with a 3-0 loss to Morocco in the Round of 16 in Houston.

Canadian captain Alphonso Davies reflected on the tournament's emotional toll, calling it "one of the toughest challenges of my career." Davies played through a hamstring injury that severely limited his performance throughout the competition. "After suffering a hamstring injury, I wasn't able to perform at the level I know I'm capable of," he wrote on social media. "It hurts knowing I couldn't give my all when my team and my country needed it most."

Despite the disappointment, Davies expressed pride in representing Canada on football's biggest stage. "I'm proud to wear this badge and to stand alongside a group of players who gave everything for our country." He ended his message on an optimistic note: "We'll learn from this, we'll grow, and we'll be back."

Fans flooded social media with messages of support. "All of Canada is with you and we know you will be back to full strength soon," one wrote. Another added, "Your journey has just begun. Canada is so very proud of how far Team Canada has made it." While Canada's tournament ended in heartbreak, the team's run to the Round of 16 marked a significant milestone for Canadian men's soccer.
