Rain's here for the week — settle in, Edmonton, June 2.

Good morning. It's Tuesday, we're at 8°C, and there's a rainfall warning in effect—so you're going to want that umbrella before you head out. The rain's not messing around today, which means the commute's going to be a bit slower than usual and your usual outdoor plans are probably off the table. Layer up: it's cool enough that you'll feel it, and the wet's not helping. You've got light till 9:54 PM though, which is solid for a June evening—almost 17 hours of daylight—so at least the sun's sticking around even if the clouds aren't cooperating.

On the commute side, keep an eye on the Yellowhead Trail near the CN Rail Bridge if that's your route—heavy rain's been flooding that stretch, so give yourself extra time and take the Henday if you can swing it. Nothing's closed outright yet, but conditions are rough and slow moving is the name of the game this morning.

On the local front, there's a couple of things worth knowing. The city's weighing an end to that 15-minute free parking at attractions and is eyeing new fees, so if you've been banking on a quick downtown stop, that might be changing soon. Also, an old Alberta Avenue church is looking at an affordable housing project—one of those moves that could actually shift things for people in the community if it comes together.

Lunch-wise, with this rain sitting on top of us all day, skip the outdoor spot. Grab somewhere warm and dry—a bowl of soup, a good sandwich, something that makes you want to stay put for a bit. The weather's the enemy of patios today.

Tonight there's no live events to speak of, so streaming's going to be your friend. This is a good night to settle in with something worth watching, pull a blanket over, and let the rain do its thing outside. You've got the whole evening ahead of you with the light holding late, so even if you're inside, there's no rush.

Stay dry out there.
