Warm Tuesday ahead — graduation day at the Jube, new food spots to try

Morning. It's 13 and climbing — that's a proper warm one after what we've been through. UV's low, so you're not going to toast, but you might actually want to leave the house without three layers. Sunset's not until 10:05 PM, so you've got a solid stretch of daylight to work with if you're planning anything outdoors.

Commute's clear as far as we know — nothing major holding up the Henday or J-Ave. Regular Tuesday flow.

The U of A's Spring Convocation is happening today at the Jube — ceremonies running at 10 AM and again at 3 PM if you know grads walking across the stage. It's one of those solid Edmonton moments, the kind that reminds you the city's got real bones.

On the food front, Station Park on Whyte just reopened with a rotating lineup of vendors, which beats what we lost when Kommune Snack Bar had to close downtown. Rising costs in the Ice District are real — Kommune couldn't make it work. But here's the good news: five Japanese spots have popped up at Station Park, so if you've been craving something fresh, you've got options. Cactus Club's also swung into summer mode with a $9 smash burger and Frosé if you're feeling it.

A few things worth sitting with this week, if you've got the headspace. There's a real tension building around infill housing in Parkview — residents are taking the fight to Alberta Court of Appeal, which tells you how serious this has gotten. And down in the river valley, there's a health crisis brewing that nobody's talking about enough: coyotes and unhoused people sharing the same space, and a new study's flagging it as a genuine problem. It deserves attention.

Other side of town, there's talk the Oil could move Darnell Nurse this summer if the market's right. Also, the league's opening an investigation into Mike Babcock before the Oilers make any moves. If you're still bleeding orange and blue, that's the noise you'll be hearing.

Tonight's quiet — no massive events dropping, but if you want to grab dinner somewhere new or catch live music, the Ave's always got something going. It's one of those Tuesdays where the day stretches out a little longer, so don't rush it.

Stay warm. Catch you tonight.
