June Wednesday — mild morning, jazz tonight, transit heads-up.

It's a soft Wednesday morning — 11°C and clear enough that you'll want sunscreen if you're out for a chunk of the day. The UV's running high at 6.0, so don't skip that. You're looking at nearly seventeen hours of daylight, with sunset not until just after ten tonight, which means if you're planning an evening out, you've got time.

If you're catching transit, Route 501's got a couple of planned detours running today: one from 73 Street and 94B Avenue heading eastbound, rerouting down to 50 Street and 94B Avenue northbound. There's also a southbound detour from 50 Street and 98 Avenue that swings you out to Ottewell Road and 94B Avenue westbound. It's worth checking ahead if that's your usual run. The LRT's also got some track maintenance happening at 51 Avenue, so plan around that if you're riding that stretch.

On the local front, there's been some movement on the ambulance file — Alberta's paused the EMS integration plan for seven communities, backing off earlier plans. Separately, three people have been charged after a $10M luxury car dealership fire. And if you've got kids in daycare, new parking rules just went in that mean facilities need less space set aside, which could free things up a bit.

For lunch or dinner, Live Bowl'd just opened a permanent spot on Whyte Avenue if you're craving that. Marugame Udon's also coming to the Mall, which is good timing if you're heading over there anyway. PlayWright at the Citadel's closed up, but there's always other spots nearby.

Tonight's a solid one for getting out. There's a clinic with Raul Midón at JazzClub at the Chateau Lacombe starting at 3:30 if the afternoon suits you. Come evening, you've got options: walking with Jada Karisma Hill and Conrad Sobieraj at The Starlite Room's Temple space at seven, or Jack Botts performing the same time at The Starlite. The Ostara Project's also playing Yardbird Suite at seven if you want electronic vibes. Pick your mood and go — you've got time before that late sunset.

Stay warm out there.
