Rain's rolling in—grab the indoors, catch some jazz.

Morning. It's 16 degrees and the sun's staying out till just after 10 tonight, which is gorgeous—but keep an umbrella close. There's a rainfall warning in effect, so outdoor plans might need a pivot. UV's sitting at 2.0, so nothing to sweat there, but that rain's the real headline.

If you're heading downtown on the Lert or driving around J-Ave, Route 701's got detours running today—a few different ones depending which direction you're moving. Nothing catastrophic, but worth knowing if you're hitting up a brunch spot or heading to any events. Give yourself the usual buffer.

On the heavier side: there's an ASIRT investigation underway into a police shooting in southwest Edmonton. The Oil are still working through what looks like a quiet draft weekend, leaving some gaps to fill before the July 1 deadline, and there's ongoing noise around Darnell Nurse's future with the team. Council also moved to cut some parking rules to free up more child care spaces around the city—a practical shift if you've been watching that squeeze.

If you're hungry, there's a restaurant raising funds today for Venezuela earthquake relief—worth looking into if you want your meal to mean something. PlayWright out at the Citadel closed after city construction made things impossible, so scratch that off the list if it was on your radar.

For today: Jurassic Quest is running at the EXPO Centre at noon if you've got kids or just like dinosaurs. The Okotoks Dawgs play the Energy City Cactus Rats at Myshak Metro Ballpark at 1:35 PM—a summer ballpark afternoon if the rain clears enough. Tonight, though, head indoors: the Atlantic Jazz Collective featuring Norma Winstone is at Yardbird Suite at 7 PM. Rain and live jazz go together better than you'd think.

It's the Sunday before Canada Day, so the long weekend's basically knocking. Use today to gear up for it or just sit still—you've earned it. Either way, keep that umbrella handy.

Stay warm. See you out there.
