Monday's chill, trail closures, and a week of fixes ahead

Morning, E-town. We've dropped back to 8°C after the recent stretch—pull on a layer and plan accordingly. UV's sitting at 7 (high), so if you're outside for any length, sunscreen still counts even when it's cooler. Sun doesn't set until just past 10 tonight, so you've got plenty of daylight to work with, nearly 17 hours of it.

Commute heads-up: Route 441's got planned detours running both directions today—northbound from Regency and Ridgeland, and southbound from Clovr Bar and Colwil. If that's your route, leave a few minutes earlier or find your way around. Nothing major, but it'll add friction to the drive if you're not ready for it.

On the bigger story front, the river valley trails are still closed as the North Saskatchewan's running near-record highs. That's a bummer if you were counting on a valley walk, but it's the right call—stay out for now. Worth flagging too: the City's putting together a $2.8 billion infrastructure renewal plan through 2030. Translation: expect ongoing work across the city, but at least someone's thinking about fixing things.

There's also movement on the Rossdale redevelopment—City Council's decided the administration has to publish their Indigenous consultation plans, which is the kind of transparency conversation that matters when you're reshaping a historic site.

If you're hungry and not in the mood to cook, KDays' got you thinking about food already—they've rolled out 50-plus new midway creations this year, blending fair classics with global flavours. Nothing's happening today, but it's worth bookmarking for later. Fair warning though: grab your groceries carefully this week. Loblaws City Market's been caught selling moldy food, so inspect before checkout.

Tonally, Rhubarb Cafe & Cocktails closed its doors last week after five years on Manchester Square—if that was your spot, time to find a new one. The good news is the city's still loaded with places to land. Green onion cakes are everywhere and worth chasing down if you haven't lately.

Tonite's got some energy: Ziggy Marley's over at River Cree if you want live reggae, or Dedrick Flynn at the Citadel if comedy's your move. Both solid ways to end a Monday.

Keep your head up out there, and let me know if you need the breakdown on anything else.
