Summer Tuesday: 14 degrees, live music tonight, and the Oil getting serious.

Morning. It's a proper summer day out there — 14 degrees, clear, and the UV's cranked to 7 (high), so if you're spending the afternoon outside, sunscreen isn't optional. You've got nearly 17 hours of daylight to work with, which means sunset won't hit until just after 10 tonight. Good day to be out.

Nothing major tying up your commute this morning, so you should be clear getting where you need to be.

Few things worth knowing before the coffee kicks in. Council greenlighted the Rossdale rezoning yesterday, so you'll be seeing taller buildings — up to 15 storeys — heading in that direction. Meanwhile, the Oil have locked in Owen Michaels on a two-year deal after a serious freshman season, and Frederik Andersen just signed on to chase the Cup with Connor and the crew. That's the kind of summer news that gets people talking at work.

If you're hungry, Mochido just soft-opened at Northtown Centre with mochi donuts if you want to catch them early. Otherwise, Taco Bell's rolling out Crispy Chicken Nuggets and a new Baja Midnight flavour across Canada if that's your lane. Fair warning: Kb&co downtown closed after a 10-year run, so if that was your spot, you'll need to find another.

This afternoon, the Edmonton Riverhawks are hosting Nanaimo at RE/MAX Field at 1:05 PM if you want to slip out and catch some baseball. It's a perfect day for it.

Tonite's got real legs. You've got your pick of live music — SKAìLD and Angine de Poitrine are both playing around 7 PM, with Angine de Poitrine hitting both The Starlite Room and Fan Park at the Ice District. It's the kind of Tuesday night that feels like a bonus — warm enough to be outside if the shows spill out, dark enough that the city looks good. Whatever you pick, you've got time to get there.

Stay loose out there.
