Thursday's got legs — football, new spots to eat, and a warm one.
15°C and nearly 17 hours of daylight. Plenty of reasons to get out tonight.
Morning. You're looking at a solid summer day — 15 degrees, UV at 5 (so sunscreen if you're out for hours), and we're not losing the light until just after 10 p.m. Plan accordingly if you're heading out tonight.
Nothing major holding up your commute this morning, which is always a win on a Thursday.
Couple of things worth knowing about town. The impound lot backlog downtown finally caught a break — they opened an overflow lot and it's knocked the backup down by 73%, so if you've been stuck waiting to get your car back, things are moving now. On the bigger-picture front, Meta's dropping $13 billion on a new AI data centre north of E-town up in Sturgeon County. That's real investment landing on the doorstep.
If you're hungry, there's some decent movement on the food front. Shooby's Gelato just opened a proper brick-and-mortar on 101st Street — hand-made batches, which is the kind of detail that matters. Over at Northtown Centre, Mochido mochi donuts is soft-opening, so if you've been curious what that's all about, now's your window. Fair warning though — Kb&co wrapped up their original downtown spot after a decade, so if that was your regular, you'll want to find your next move.
Tonight's got real legs if you're looking to get out. The Elks are home at Commonwealth Stadium at 7 — Ottawa's in town, and it's a Thursday night under the lights, which always hits different. Before or after, if live music is your thing, Rockin' Thunder kicks off at the Exhibition Lands Racetrack at 6. And if the theatre's more your speed, the Citadel's got the Putnam County Spelling Bee on at 7:30 in the parking lot — yeah, parking lot theatre, and it's worth the oddness.
Weather's kind to you for all of it — warm enough you don't need a jacket, dry, and you've got hours of daylight. Get after it.
See you out there.
