Sunday sun, live music, and a couple of good reasons to get out.
Fourteen and sunny—perfect for baseball, theatre, or catching some live Punjabi vibes tonight.
Morning, E-town. It's a proper summer Sunday—14°C, UV's running high at 7, and you've got nearly 17 hours of daylight to burn before sunset at 9:59 PM. That's the kind of long evening light that makes you want to stay out late, so plan accordingly.
The storm that rolled through earlier in the week did a number on us, but the good news is the city's bounced back. Found Festival and the Whyte Avenue Artwalk both weathered it just fine with only minor damage, so if you've got plans in those parts today, you're golden.
If you're hungry, it's a good time to explore. There's a handful of new spots worth checking out this summer, and if you're thinking dinner and a show vibe, that's exactly the mood for tonight. For something a little different, NAIT's culinary director recently flagged Pasta Delight at the farmers market as his must-stop vendor—worth a swing if you're in that neighbourhood.
Get outside early if you can. The Sylvan Lake Gulls are playing the Energy City Cactus Rats at Myshak Metro Ballpark at 12:05 PM—solid daytime baseball. If rock's more your speed, Rockin' Thunder is on at Exhibition Lands Racetrack at 1:00 PM. And if you're a theatre person, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is running at the Citadel today at 1:30 PM—could be a fun afternoon.
Tonight's the time to lean into live entertainment. Punjabi Virsa is happening at the Edmonton EXPO Centre at 7:00 PM, and with that long twilight stretching out, you can catch the show and still have the evening ahead. Either way, you've got options that'll keep you out until well after dark.
One more thing worth knowing: the city's working through some bigger stuff. There's a renewal fund plan on the table that'll push the tax rate up half a percent annually, and the towing backlog that's been a headache has eased up thanks to overflow impound space—small win for the city. Nothing that changes your day, but good to have on your radar.
Get out there. Weather's cooperating, there's stuff to do, and nights like this don't last forever.
