Monday's cool start — get sorted for the commute.

Morning. It's a fair bit cooler than the last stretch — 8°C at the start, so grab a layer if you're heading out early. The UV's running high at 6.0, which means even on a chilly day like this, the sun's got teeth; don't sleep on sunscreen if you're outside for long. You've got just under 17 hours of daylight, so sunset's not until nearly 10 p.m. — gives you a solid evening if you're planning anything.

If you're taking transit, a few route detours are live around 135 St and 114 Ave. Routes 051, 052, and 907 are all shifting from the northbound to eastbound intersection, and Route 124 is rerouting from 137 St & 115 Ave eastbound over to Westmount TC Bay G. Nothing huge, but worth knowing if those are your usual lines — check ahead if you're tight on time.

Quick local news worth your attention: the Oil just signed Colton Dach to a two-year extension worth $2.4 million, so there's some roster stability happening as the season gears up. On a rougher note, a 23-year-old woman was found fatally injured in southeast Edmonton yesterday, and an arrest has been made. Also hitting the news — an ex-Service Canada employee got 18 months for stealing $180,000 from seniors, which is a sour reminder to keep an eye on the older folks in your life.

If you're thinking about dinner tonight, it's a quiet Monday, so this is a good night to check out somewhere solid and new. There are five fresh Edmonton spots worth a visit this summer if you're looking to expand the rotation. Or if you're more of a stay-in person, grab some good takeout, settle in, and let the evening stretch — you've got time.

Nothing major is dropping on the entertainment front tonight, so this is more of a wind-down kind of day. If you're feeling a bit of energy later in the week, the Bouncing Souls are coming Friday, and Clue (Touring) is running if live theatre's your speed either night this weekend. For now, though, just get through the Monday grind, stay warm, and we'll see what the rest of the week brings.

Stay sorted.
