Sunday heat, live music, and the Elks are cooking.

Good morning. It's a Sunday that's actually working in your favour — warm enough to be outside without regrets, UV's running high at 6.0 so sunscreen's your friend if you're out most of the day, and you've got real daylight until almost 10 PM tonight. Plan accordingly.

If you drove the Yellowhead westbound between St. Albert Trail and 97 Street anytime lately, good news: that stretch is back open after the flood repairs wrapped up. Take it as a win and use it when you need it.

On the bigger picture: First Nations leaders are pushing back hard on Alberta separatism talk, making it clear treaty rights aren't negotiable. Worth paying attention to. And up north, the aerospace sector's making moves — Northern Alberta's signing an MOU to bring defence investment into the region. Not flashy, but real.

If you're thinking food, KDays is still running and the vendors are doing proper work — salmon tacos, deep-fried cheese curds, and the kind of liquid-nitrogen ice cream that actually impresses. Taste of Edmonton's also still on if you want to hit the good stuff there: lobster rolls, smashburgers, and desserts that matter. And if you're near the Crawford Building, there's a new rooftop patio that's worth checking out just for the views across the city.

Holy Shakes is running National Ice Cream Day deals at their Edmonton spots today too, so that's easy money if you want something cold.

Tonight's where it gets good. Mother Mother's headlining the EXPO Centre at 7:30 — real indie rock energy, the kind of show that gets people moving. If you want something different, Clue's doing the touring production at the Jube (same time, 7:30), which is solid theatre if you're in that mood. Comedy's also happening at Kinsmen Park at 7 if you want to keep it outside. And if you're metal-heads, Pre-Breaker's at the Starlite Room with Single Wound and Euthanize & Cull at 6:30 — early enough to catch dinner first.

The Elks looked sharp yesterday, by the way — 5-1 now after beating the Lions 19-17. Nathan Rourke took a hit in that one, so watch how that plays out.

Get out there. You've got the light for it.

Stay sharp.
