Monday heat and evening moves — KDays wraps, ball game's on.
16 and sunny; catch Mother Mother at the Expo tonight, or grab a seat at the ballpark after work.
Good Monday morning. You're looking at 16°C and high UV (7.0), so if you're heading outside today, SPF is your friend — we've got almost 16 and a half hours of daylight to burn through, and the sun's going to feel it. Sunset's not until 9:49 PM, so evening plans have real breathing room.
Commute should run clean. Nothing major flagged on the roads this morning, so you're good to get where you need to be.
Couple of things on the radar today. There's been real sadness around Leduc — Jayden Dalke, the Saskatchewan Roughriders captain from out that way, was killed in a car accident. Hard news for his family and everyone who knew him. On a different note, there's been talk this week about that Alberta referendum website the government spun up — turned out to cost $300,000. Documents are out now, so people are having their say about whether that was money well spent.
If you're hungry, KDays is still going strong at the EXPO, and they've got some solid food vendors on site — salmon tacos, deep-fried cheese curds, the kind of stuff that shows up once a year and hits different. There's also a new rooftop patio up at the historic Crawford Building if you want to grab something with a view, and if you're hunting for lunch specials, Taste of Edmonton has some standout buns worth the line — lobster rolls and smashburgers among them.
This evening's got some real options. Mother Mother's playing the KDays Music Fest over at the EXPO Centre at 7:30 PM if you want to catch live music with the warm evening. Or if you're more of a ballpark person, the Energy City Cactus Rats take on the Okotoks Dawgs at Myshak Metro Ballpark at 6:35 PM — that's a solid way to wind down a Monday. Comedy's happening around town too if that's your speed.
Given the high UV and that we've got long daylight ahead, outdoor plans tonight play well. Whatever you choose, you've got time before it gets dark.
Get out there and have a good one.
