Wednesday's warm, the air's thick—music and baseball tonight.

Morning, E-town. It's a warm one today—15°C and climbing, with that high UV index (7.0) that'll catch you if you're not watching. The real thing to clock is the air quality: it's elevated at AQHI 7.0, so if you're heading out for a long lunch or a run, you might feel it in your chest a bit. Sensitive folks should take it easy. You've got a full 16 hours of daylight, so sunset's not until 9:47 PM—plenty of time to play with tonight.

Commute's clean this morning. Nothing major blocking your way in or out, so you're good to move.

Few things worth knowing as you move through the day: mosquito bite reactions are sending Edmonton kids to emergency rooms this summer, so if your little ones are scratching raw, don't sleep on it—get them checked out. Also, invasive goldfish have flooded Alberta's waterways, and the province is warning people and handing out fines, so if you're heading to the river valley or any lakes, keep an eye out. On the restaurant side, downtown's been rough lately—six spots have closed since early June, with construction and foot traffic taking the blame. If you've got a favourite place you've been meaning to hit, might be worth calling ahead to make sure they're still standing.

On a brighter note, Coliseum Steak & Pizza over in Parkdale just hit 50 years in Edmonton, so if you're in the mood for a proper pizza or steak dinner, that's a real institution worth supporting.

Tonight's got some good options. The Energy City Cactus Rats are home at Myshak Metro Ballpark for a 6:35 PM start against Saskatoon—baseball's always solid on a warm Wednesday evening. If live music's more your speed, you've got Peach Pit at KDays Music Fest over at the EXPO Centre at 7:30 PM (indie pop, solid vibe), Valerie June at Myer Horowitz Theatre if you want blues, or if theatre's calling, the Citadel's got The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at 7:30 PM. Pick your mood and get out.

Stay cool, watch that sun, and catch you tomorrow.
