Monday's mild and clear—watch the detours on your commute.

18 and sunny, but the Whitemud's still dealing with weekend flood damage. Here's what matters.

Monday's mild and clear—watch the detours on your commute.

Morning. It's 18 degrees and staying bright all day—sunset doesn't hit until 9:39 tonight, so you've got plenty of daylight to work with. UV's running high at 6.0, so if you're outside for lunch or heading out after work, the usual sunscreen rules apply. No air quality alerts, and the weekend's severe weather has cleared out.

Commute-wise, keep an eye on the Whitemud if you usually take that route. Saturday night's storm flooded it hard and they're still working through the damage. You've also got some bus detours in play today: Route 917's rerouting around the WEM area and up near 178 Street, and Route 432's got a detour on the south side around Stilco and Lakeland. Nothing catastrophic, but check your app if you're transit-dependent.

On the local front, there's some real stuff moving. Leduc RCMP just launched a drone program for search and rescue work, crime scenes, and barricaded suspect situations—practical upgrade for how they handle calls out there. Meanwhile, Alberta's emergency rooms are still waiting on promised triage liaison physicians that were supposed to roll out six months ago. Worth knowing if you end up at the Royal or any other ER around E-town.

If you're thinking about dinner tonight, there's some solid newness. Bazaar—Ukrainian street food—just landed at Station Park down in Old Scona, which is worth a walk if you're craving pierogies done right. Over on Whyte, Greg Sweeney's HOM Street Food has taken over the kitchen at Bibo's, so that's a fresh spot to check. And if you want to mark a real milestone, Coliseum Steak & Pizza just hit 50 years in Parkdale, which deserves a visit. Fair warning though: a bunch of downtown restaurants have closed since early June, so some of your old regulars might not be there anymore.

Tonight's got real options. Nate Bargatze's doing a comedy set at Rogers Place—Monday's a solid night to catch that kind of thing. If you want something lower-key, there's baseball at Myshak Metro Ballpark at 6:35 (Regina Red Sox against the Energy City Cactus Rats). Either way, you've got time to get out and shake off the work week before dark.

Keep the sunscreen handy and watch those detours. See you out there.
