Tuesday cool-down after the heat — what you need sorted
Twelve degrees, high UV, and a decent evening ahead if you're looking to get out.
Morning. It's dropped back to reality after that scorcher we've been running — twelve degrees and a big UV reading of 7, so sunscreen's still your friend even if it feels cooler. You've got a solid fifteen-and-a-half hours of daylight before sunset at 9:37 tonight, which means the evening's yours if you want it.
If you're heading downtown or moving through J-Ave, Route 511 has a planned detour today from 100 St & 102A Avenue westbound down to 83 St & 90 Avenue southbound. Nothing dramatic, but gives you a heads-up to plan the long way if you're cutting it close.
On the news side: a couple of Edmonton-area guys have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a 2020 poisoning death — case that's been sitting for a while. In other developments, Alberta's opening up self-referral for private health testing starting Friday, which could mean shorter wait times if you've been looking to get something checked. And there's a recall on Cadbury chocolate bars for undeclared pistachio if you've got any of those lying around — worth a look in your pantry.
If food's on your mind, there's plenty happening. Bazaar just brought Ukrainian street food to Station Park over in Old Strathcona — worth the visit if you're craving something solid. Greg Sweeney's HOM Street Food has taken over Bibo's kitchen on Whyte, so if you've been meaning to try that, now's your window. And if you're in Parkdale, Coliseum Steak & Pizza is marking fifty years in the neighbourhood — place has earned the stay.
Tonight, if you're feeling a night out, Collective Soul's playing River Cree at eight. That's your main event on a quiet Tuesday — decent way to close out the day if live music's your speed. The Cactus Rats are also home at Myshak Metro Ballpark at 6:35 if baseball's more your call, though the weather should be fine for either.
Nothing too heavy today — just a regular Tuesday with the temperature back where it should be this time of year. Get out there sorted.
Stay warm.
