Wednesday's a mild one — watch the detours heading downtown.

Morning. It's a comfortable 12 out there — bring a light layer but you won't need the winter gear. UV's running high at 6, so if you're outside for lunch or a coffee break, sunscreen's worth it. You've got nearly 16 hours of daylight, and the sun won't dip until 9:36 tonight, so plenty of light left in the day.

Heads up on transit: Routes 924 and 511 have planned detours running today. If you're heading downtown or west across the city, check your usual route — the 924's got two separate detours (one heading north from 168 and 93, the other coming back westbound from 163 and 95), and the 511's taking a different line on the westbound side. Nothing major, but worth knowing if you're cutting it close this morning.

Couple things worth knowing around the city. Pop Ivy, a legendary Edmonton football coach, just got inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame — that's a solid E-town moment. And if you're into the dating app scene, there's an Edmonton-made thing called Oops Social making waves — it ditches the swipe and goes straight to voice notes instead. Kind of a different take on how people connect.

If you're thinking lunch, Bazaar's bringing Ukrainian street food to Station Park over in Old Strathcona, which is worth the detour if you're craving something real. Greg Sweeney's HOM Street Food has taken over the kitchen at Bibo's on Whyte Ave too, if you want to scope that out. And if you're in the mood for something a bit more established, Coliseum Steak & Pizza is marking 50 years in Parkdale — that's not nothing.

Tonight, if you want to get out and do something, the Citadel's running the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee — it's a Broadway show that lands somewhere between funny and heartwarming. Parking's at 7:30 if you want to catch it. It's a weeknight thing, so not a huge commitment, and you'll still have light outside if you want to grab dinner before.

Keep it straightforward today. Nothing major in the forecast, just a nice July midweek. Watch for those transit changes if you're on the LRT or the bus, and you're golden.

Get sorted.
