Nineteen and clear—get outside while the weather's with you.

Saturday's a gift. Warm, long daylight, and the city's got live music, theatre, and a junior hockey showdown to fill your day.

Nineteen and clear—get outside while the weather's with you.

It's 19°C and sunny this morning—genuinely nice for August in E-town. UV's running high at 7, so if you're heading out, sunscreen's not optional. You've got a solid 15 hours of daylight to work with, and the sun won't drop until 9:30 tonight, so plan accordingly. This kind of warm Saturday doesn't come every week.

One heads-up for your week ahead: the Capital Line's going down August 7 through 9 between Churchill and Clareview for electrical upgrades. It's a quick window, but if you're relying on the LRT that stretch next week, start thinking about the bus or the car now.

On the news side, the U of A Hospital just became the first centre in Canada to use new kidney transplant transport technology—solid win for the city's medical chops. The RCMP are also asking for help solving Marie Goudreau's murder from 50 years ago; if you've got information, they want to hear from you.

If brunch is on the agenda, Bazaar's got you covered with Ukrainian street food over at Station Park in Old Strathcona—perfect weekend move. For something a bit fancier, Coliseum Steak & Pizza is marking 50 years in Parkdale this month, and Greg Sweeney's HOM Street Food just took over the kitchen at Bibo's on Whyte if you're craving something new. Also, Tim Hortons is dropping a Harry Potter menu across Canada starting August 12, so mark that if you're into it.

Tonight's packed. If you want live sports, the Hlinka Gretzky Cup (junior hockey) is on at Rogers Place at 1:00 this afternoon—Germany takes Switzerland. For music, AngelMaker's Canadian Heritage Tour rolls into The Starlite Room at 6:00 with Ingested and a solid lineup, or Spinall's spinning at Pawn Shop Live (the old Union Hall) also at 6:00. Comedy's your lane? Graham Kay's at Rick Bronson's at 7:00. And if theatre's more your speed, *The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee* is running at the Citadel with shows at 1:30 this afternoon and 7:30 tonight.

Bonus: there's a free BOGO Cineplex pass just for today if you want to catch a movie before sunset.

Get out there. This weather won't last.
