Monday in the mid-teens — commute smooth, rock show tonight.
Cool start, decent commute, and Shinedown's at Rogers Place if you need a Monday lift.
Morning's sitting at 13°C — throw on a layer for the walk or drive in, but nothing heavy. Sun's out and strong (UV's a 5), so if you're spending time outside today, you'll feel it even in the cool. We're pulling in fourteen and a half hours of daylight, which means sunset's not until 8:58 tonight — plenty of light for an evening out if that's your move.
Commute-wise, you're mostly clear, but watch for detours on Route 431 and Route 513 if you're heading through Mill Woods. Nothing that'll wreck your morning, just keep your head on a swivel around those zones.
Couple of heavier stories making the rounds this morning. A 16-year-old girl was killed in a shooting in the northeast Sunday morning — the city's feeling that one. On the hockey front, the Hockey News just ranked the Oilers 20th in the league and flagged some real concerns brewing for next season, which isn't exactly the vibe we're hoping for as we head into training camp in September. That said, there are some legitimately interesting battles to watch when the Oil get going — worth keeping an eye on if you're paying attention to the team.
If you haven't checked it out yet, there's some solid food news landing. Lingnan's has been anchoring family dinners in Edmonton for over seventy years with their egg rolls — that's the kind of place that just works. If you're in Old Strathcona, Bazaar just brought Ukrainian street food to Station Park, which is a win for the neighbourhood. Greg Sweeney's HOM Street Food also took over the kitchen at Bibo's on Whyte, so if you've been missing that spot, there's something fresh to try. And if you're into the Tim Hortons Harry Potter menu that just rolled out across Canada, now's your moment.
Tonight's got some energy if you want it — Shinedown with From Ashes to New are at Rogers Place starting at seven. If rock's your thing and you need to blow off a Monday, that's your ticket. Otherwise, it's a perfect night for staying in and taking it easy. Sun's still going strong until nearly nine, so you've got time to play with however you want to spend it.
Take it easy out there. See you tomorrow.
