Tuesday's warm — get outside before the evening cools down.
15 degrees and sunny, Route 501 has detours, and there's golf and live music tonight.
Morning all. It's a proper warm one for mid-August — 15°C and the sun's staying till close to 9 PM, so plan accordingly. The UV's running high at 6.0, which means sunscreen if you're spending real time outside. You've got over 14 hours of daylight, so no complaints.
If you're heading out on Route 501 today, know there's planned detours in play — eastbound traffic's being rerouted from 73 Street and 94B Avenue to Capilano TC, and westbound's got its own shuffle from Capilano down to Ottewell and 94B. Nothing apocalyptic, but leave a few extra minutes if that's your route.
On the local front, Treaty 6 is marking 150 years this week with a festival running at Churchill Square — worth knowing if you're in the mood for something meaningful. There's also the CPKC Women's Open golf happening out at Royal Mayfair if that's your speed; grounds tickets are still available for today starting at 10 AM. And if you've been meaning to try Bazaar, their Ukrainian street food is now set up at Station Park in Old Strathcona — that's the kind of lunch move that makes a Tuesday feel less like a Tuesday.
Tonics and Greg Sweeney have some momentum too — HOM Street Food just took over the kitchen at Bibo's on Whyte, so there's new energy on the Ave if you're grabbing dinner around there.
For tonight, The Starlite Room's got live music if you want to shake off the workday and actually get out. It's warm enough that heading downtown for a drink and some tunes won't feel like a slog. Sunset's at 8:56, so you've got plenty of daylight to get through the afternoon first.
Catch you later.
