Wednesday warmth, Guns N' Roses tonight, and transit heads-up

Morning. You've got a mild one ahead—16°C and UV hitting 5, so if you're outside at lunch, sunscreen still matters even though summer's on the way out. Sunset's not until 8:38 tonight, so there's good light for the day.

On the transit side, a couple of planned detours are in play: Route 513's got work happening between Mill Woods Rd and Knotwood Rd, and Route 111's rerouting around 95 St and 103 Av heading westbound on Jasper. If you're on either of those lines, give yourself a few extra minutes.

There's some harder news floating around town this morning. ASIRT's investigating after Edmonton police shot a man dead near Stony Plain Road. Edmonton police are also looking for additional complainants in a sexual assault case involving a minor—details are out there if you need them. And Recovery Alberta's permanently shutting down the city's largest addiction treatment centre, which pulls 600 people off a wait list. That's a big loss for the community.

On the lighter side, there's actually some good job energy right now—25 places across the Edmonton area are actively hiring for hundreds of positions heading into September. If you've been thinking about a move, might be worth a look.

Food-wise, Andy's Valleyview IGA just came back to Parkview after a two-year absence, so if you've missed that spot, it's worth a visit. And if you're craving something with real staying power, Lingnan's has been anchoring Edmonton family dinners with their egg rolls for over 70 years—that kind of track record doesn't lie. For something different, Bazaar's bringing Ukrainian street food to Station Park over in Old Strathcona—worth the trip if you want something fresh.

Tonight's the big one if you're a classic rock person: Guns N' Roses is at Commonwealth Stadium with The Black Crowes, kicking off at 6:25 PM. It's a huge get for the city, and the weather's on your side—clear evening, decent temps. If you're heading that way, grab dinner early and maybe walk around a neighbourhood park beforehand to settle in.

Otherwise it's a pretty quiet Wednesday. Take the mild day as a gift, stay on top of those transit changes, and enjoy the long daylight while it lasts.
