Thursday's got music, a country fest on deck, and 15 degrees

Morning. It's 15 degrees and heading nowhere fast — no rain, clear skies, and the sun's not dropping until 8:36 PM, so you've got a proper Thursday ahead of you. UV's sitting at 5, which means sunscreen if you're outside for long stretches, but nothing that'll wreck your day.

If you're on the LRT, heads-up: stops at 101 St & 101A Ave northbound and 101 St & 102 Ave southbound are closed today. Nothing catastrophic, but if that's your usual route downtown, might be worth mapping an alternate stop or giving yourself a few extra minutes.

Few things worth knowing this morning. There's a review underway into how a suspect's release played out — legally required, but questions are being asked. And up in Leduc, RCMP are reminding parents to be careful in school drop-off zones as the year kicks off. Worth a thought if you've got kids heading back.

If you're thinking lunch, Bazaar's brought Ukrainian street food over to Station Park in Old Scona — that's worth a walk if you're craving something different. And if you're more of a legacy move, Lingnan's has been anchoring Edmonton family dinners for over 70 years with their egg rolls. That's the kind of place where you know exactly what you're getting.

If you're into live music, Brian Byrne & No Coma are playing the Starlite Room at 7 — they're running through the I Mother Earth era and a new EP called Sick Signal, so if that's your lane, it's a solid Thursday night. The Anti Queens are over at the Buckingham with Brutal Youth and Grizzly Trail, same time. Or if you want something lower-key with a laugh, there's comedy happening too. Pick your mood.

Earlier in the evening, Boots and Hearts West is kicking off a two-day run at Fan Park in the Ice District starting at 6 PM tonight. If country's your thing, this runs through Friday and Saturday, so it's a proper weekend play.
