Mild Tuesday, Weird Al tonight, watch the LRT stops.
14°C and clear, some transit reshuffling, and one genuinely weird evening if you're keen.
Morning. It's a soft 14°C out there — pull the light jacket and you're golden. Sun's with you till 8:24 PM, so if you've got outdoor plans the weather's backing you up. UV's running at 5, which is moderate, so the usual precautions if you're out a while.
Heads up on transit: there's stop closures on the 94B corridor — if you're catching the LRT on that stretch (58, 61, or 68 Street stops heading eastbound, plus Ottewell), you're being detoured. Same story westbound on 61 and 68. Also watch 86 Street around Davies, Coronet, and Wagner if that's your route — those stops are down too. Check your usual line before you head out; it's a reshuffle but not a full shutdown.
Couple things worth your headspace today. The city's getting serious about winter prep — monthly snow removal and more equipment coming to tackle the streets when the deep freeze hits. That's the kind of infrastructure news that'll matter come January. On a harder note: overdose deaths in Edmonton hit 770 last year, and advocates are pushing hard for better treatment access. That number doesn't move on its own. And Food Banks Alberta's flagging a critical shortage right now, with demand jumping 33% just in August — if you've got the means and aren't sure where to help, that's a clear one.
For lunch or dinner, Sip Soda Co. just opened on Whyte with free drinks early on if you want to swing by. If you're thinking Dumpling Fest later this month (September 23), restaurants across the city are bringing world cuisines, so that's on the radar. Lingnan's egg rolls have been anchoring family dinners here for over 70 years if you want something familiar and solid.
Tonight's the move if you're in the mood: Weird Al Yankovic's at Rogers Place at 7:30, and Puddles Piddy Party's opening. If that's not your vibe, grab food and a drink instead and call it an evening. Weather's decent enough for a patio if you're so inclined.
Keep your head up and your transit app handy. See you out there.
