Wednesday warmth, transit shuffles, and Peaches tonight

Morning. It's a mild one out there—15°C and climbing, with a decent 13.5 hours of daylight to work with. Sun doesn't set until 8:22 tonight, so you've got time to stretch the day if you want it. UV's at 5, so if you're heading outside for lunch, the usual care applies—nothing extreme, but don't leave the sunscreen in the drawer.

A few bus routes are running detours today, mostly south and west of downtown. Route 500X is swinging around between 71 St and Sherwood Park Freeway heading west, then up to 100 St and Jasper Ave. Routes 052, 631, and 633 are all shuffling around the south side too—nothing that's going to crater your commute, but worth checking the ETS app if you're boarding in those zones. Gives you a minute or two to plan ahead.

On the local front: Premier Smith's made it clear Alberta's not becoming the 51st American state, which—fair enough. Also worth noting the city's planning monthly residential snow removal this winter and bringing in more equipment. That's ahead of us, but good to know when the deep freeze hits. And there was a vandalism spree downtown that did serious damage—$100,000 worth—a 19-year-old's been charged. Not a great look for the Ice District, but the response is moving.

If you're thinking about food, Dumpling Fest is coming to town September 23rd—restaurants across the city are bringing inventive dumpling and world cuisine specials. Worth circling on the calendar. Closer to now, there's a fresh soda bar called Sip Soda Co. that just opened on Whyte Ave with free drinks for early arrivals, if that's your speed. And Lingnan's egg rolls have been feeding Edmonton families for over 70 years now—solid move if you want something tried and true.

This evening, Peaches is playing the Midway at 7:00 p.m. if live music's calling your name. It's the main draw for Wednesday night—everything else is pretty quiet, so it's either in or in. Weather's holding mild, so if you head out it won't bite. Sun's still up when the show starts, which is a nice bonus.
