Crisp Saturday: Elks game, live music, and a film-orchestra night
It's cooler than it's been—layer up for the game or settle in for indoor shows.
Good morning. It's dropped to 6 degrees out there—a real shift from the mild stretch we've had. Sun's still decent (UV's at 4, so you'll feel it), but the day's shorter and the air's got that early-fall bite. Sunset's at 7:57, so if you're heading out tonight, plan accordingly.
Whatever's on your Saturday, there's plenty to do. The Elks are home at Commonwealth Stadium at 5 o'clock against Calgary—if you've got tickets or you're thinking about heading down, it'll be a good crowd and you'll want a jacket. The rivalry game always brings energy.

The Lord of the Rings—The Two Towers is playing as a full orchestra concert at the Jube both this afternoon (1 p.m.) and tonight (7 p.m.). Purple City Music Festival is sprawling across multiple venues all afternoon and into the night, starting at 1 p.m. It's a big one—live acts, different spaces, the kind of day where you hop between spots. There's a day pass if you want to catch the whole run. Over at Midway Music Hall, there's a Honky Tonk Market at noon if you want to poke around before anything else, and Liam St. John's playing a pre-party set at 7 p.m. if you want to keep the evening going.
On the food side: if you're thinking about next week, Canada's first Hell's Kitchen restaurant opens Monday in Enoch with Gordon Ramsay's full menu—that's worth marking down. Closer to today, Dumpling Fest is coming September 23rd, bringing world cuisines to Edmonton restaurants, so keep that in the back of your head.
