Tuesday's mild—10 degrees, some transit shuffles, and a night out waiting.
Good morning. It's a regular Tuesday: mild commute weather, a couple of bus detours to know, and four solid shows tonight if you're after something to do.
Ten degrees and sun—you've got a solid fall day ahead. Sunset's at 7:33, so if you're thinking about heading out this evening, you've got decent light until early evening and then a proper night after. UV's sitting at 3, which is moderate, so nothing to sweat, but the usual sunscreen sense if you're outside for a stretch.
On the transit side, keep an eye out if you're riding Routes 054, 684, 052, or 905—they've all got planned detours around Girouard Street and 137 Avenue westbound, rerouting to 119 Street instead. Nothing dramatic, but worth knowing if those are your regular lines. Check the ETS site or your app if you want the exact timing.
Few things floating around worth knowing: the city's recycling program is expanding come October 1, so styrofoam and takeout containers are going to be accepted curbside now—good news if you've been tossing those. Also worth noting, the old Spectrum racetrack out east is nearly done being torn down after 118 years. That's a piece of Edmonton history closing out. And if you've been following the public safety conversation, city council and EPS are launching a review together; report's due late next year.
If you're thinking food today, keep an eye on what's happening this week. Dumpling Fest kicks off tomorrow at a bunch of restaurants around town, so that's worth planning for if dumplings are your thing. And Sip Soda Co. just opened on Whyte with free drinks for early birds if you're craving something different. Hell's Kitchen also opens Monday out in Enoch if you want to scope that out—Gordon Ramsay's signature menu.
Tonight, if you're heading out, you've got options. Ensiferum's playing The Starlite Room at 6:30 with Firewind and North Hammer if you're into metal. There's also & Juliet (the musical) at the Jube at 7:30 if you want Broadway, and a couple of other shows bouncing around—Pulso Canada Tour is at River Cree at 7 if pop's more your speed. Pick your vibe and go.
