Sunday Chill: 1°C, Live Music, and a Rugby Match.

Morning, E-town. We've dropped back into proper October weather overnight—1°C and clear skies, so it's that sharp kind of cold that feels like fall actually showed up. You'll want a solid jacket if you're heading out, but at least we've got a decent run of daylight left. Sunset's at 7:04, so you've got until mid-evening before the dark closes in.

If you're after a brunch or lunch spot, sounds like there's some shifting happening in the food scene right now. Vagabond Pop-ups is opening for dinner over in Old Scona—they've taken over the old Wilfred's space in Wîhkwêntôwin, so if you've been wanting to try something new there, tonight could be your first shot. On the flip side, Island Brew Coffee House has wrapped it up after a couple of years; rough timing for small businesses in the city, but that's the reality a lot of folks are navigating right now.

For something different, Canada's first Hell's Kitchen is opening tomorrow out in Enoch with Gordon Ramsay's signature plates—might be worth keeping an eye on if that's your thing.

Tonight's got real options if you're in a live-music mood. Sabaton's back at the Edmonton Convention Centre at 7:00 PM (they were supposed to play back in April, so this is the rescheduled date), and they've got Pop Evil and Wings of Steel on the bill. Same venue has another show at 8:00 PM if you want the full Legends on Tour experience. IV of Spades is playing River Cree if you want something a bit different, and over in the Park there's Anthony Gomes doing blues at Festival Place in Sherwood Park at 8:00 PM. If you're not a live-music person, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is on at the Winspear at 2:00 PM this afternoon—worth catching if you've got the daylight hours free.

Rugby's also happening: the Pandas are taking on UBC Thunderbirds at Foote Field at 1:00 PM if that's more your speed for a Sunday afternoon.

There's some heavier news floating around too—the province and church have admitted liability for abuse at the youth jail, there's talk of the city looking at sanctioned encampment sites for folks experiencing homelessness, and federal documents are warning about what separation from Canada could cost Alberta. Worth staying in the loop on, even on a Sunday.

Stay warm out there. See you around.
