Thanksgiving Monday: Stay warm, stay in, stay fed.

It's a holiday—embrace the couch, watch the cold snap, and pick something that feels right.

Thanksgiving Monday: Stay warm, stay in, stay fed.

Happy Thanksgiving, friend. It's right around freezing this morning—0°C—so if you're heading anywhere, bundle up and know you've got about 10 hours 50 minutes of daylight before the sun drops at 6:45 PM. The UV's low, so you're not chasing shade, but the wind's going to bite. A lot colder than the last few days, so maybe that turkey dinner's timing is perfect.

If you do need to move around E-town today, keep an eye on the LRT side of things. Routes 729 and 718 are running on detours around the Century Park area—they're heading out to Rabbit Hill and Elerslie instead. Not the end of the world, but worth knowing if you're catching a bus.

Quick heads-up on something that matters: Beverly's cenotaph, Alberta's oldest war memorial, got hit by vandals not long ago. It's a kick in the teeth ahead of Remembrance Day in a few weeks. Keep an eye on that one.

On a brighter note, Evan Bouchard's been absolutely unconscious to start the season—tied Bobby Orr's NHL record with six goals in his first four games. The Oil have been fun to watch for once. And if you caught the Canadian Finals Rodeo wrap-up, that was a strong year: 43,903 people through the gates, 12 championship titles, and they were raising money for kids with serious illness. That's the kind of weekend we needed.

Food-wise, if you're thinking about dinner this week, Iron Hive's got some accessible Alberta honey meads that are worth exploring if you want something a little different. And Vagabond Pop-ups just opened for dinner in Old Scona where Wilfred's used to be—good timing for getting back out there when you're ready. Island Brew Coffee House closed up after a couple of years though, so if that was your spot, the small-business squeeze is real right now.

Tonight? Honestly, nothing's really on, and that's fine. Thanksgiving is built for staying home. Throw on something warm and familiar—Law & Order, The Office, whatever doesn't ask too much of your brain. Build a fire if you've got one. Sit with the people you've got around.

Stay warm out there.
