Tuesday at 3°C: Commute smoothly, catch some reggae tonight.

Morning's sitting at 3°C with decent light still—you've got ten and a half hours of daylight left, sunset at 6:42 PM. UV's low, so no extra burn risk on the walk. Layer up though; it's proper fall out there.

If you're taking the bus, Route 914's got a planned detour running today between 184 St and 84 Ave heading east, rerouting north through 178 St and 87 Ave. Same route's also swinging around from 178 St south of 89 Avenue, heading back west past 182 St. It's a bit of a shuffle, but the heads-up means you're not stuck wondering why your bus took a different turn. Give yourself a few extra minutes if you're counting on that line.

On the Oil front, Zach Hyman could be back in the lineup for tonight's game against the Kings if the medical staff clears him. That'd be good news if you're planning to catch it. There's also some national noise happening—Elon Musk's been calling for Alberta and Saskatchewan to split, but our premiers and Chrystia Carney aren't having it. Carney was out in west Edmonton at his old stomping grounds yesterday making the case against separation. It's the kind of political theatre that'll probably keep buzzing for a bit.

On a heavier note, there's been some tension between police and a local daycare over a drive-by shooting near an Edmonton school. The daycare's saying they didn't get a heads-up from authorities, which is a real concern when kids are in the picture. Worth paying attention to how that one plays out.

For lunch or dinner, if you're feeling something warm and different, Vagabond Pop-ups is open for dinner now in the space where Wilfred's used to be at Wîhkwêntôwin. That's worth a try if you've got the time. On the beverage side, if you're into mead—yeah, the ancient honey drink—Iron Hive's making some solid Alberta honey versions that won't taste like you're at a medieval fair. And if you've missed Yves plant-based products on the shelf, they're back in Canadian grocery stores after being discontinued. Some local businesses aren't faring as well though; Island Brew Coffee House just closed after a couple of years, joining a tough run for small shops in the city.

Tonights's move if you've got energy left: UB40's playing the Midway at 7 PM. Reggae on a Tuesday works if you're not totally wrecked from the day, and it's indoors so the chill won't bite. Good way to shake off a regular day.

Stay warm out there. See you tonight or tomorrow.
