Sunday's mild — grab dinner and catch the Oil Kings at four.

Five degrees and clear this morning, which means you can move around without layers getting in the way. UV's low, so no sunburn worry, but sunset's coming in at 6:31 — that's just over ten hours of daylight, so plan accordingly if you're heading anywhere outdoors. The afternoon's your window; by evening it'll be dark early.

Route 701's returning to 104 Street today if you're moving around the city — nothing that'll wreck your Sunday, but worth noting if that's part of your usual route.

John Janzen Nature Centre is back open after eighteen months closed for flood repair. If you've missed the river valley trails and the animals, today's mild enough to swing by and see what's changed.

Food-wise, there's real stuff happening. Elio's just opened on the south side with Filipino comfort food that sounds like the kind of place you linger in. If you're into ramen, Nomiya's rebranded as Nom on Calgary Trail — elevated Japanese dining now, which could be exactly what you need before the week starts. Iron Hive's Alberta honey meads are worth exploring if you want to try something ancient and local without committing to a whole mead bar scene. And if you want something straightforward and solid, Vagabond Pop-ups is running dinner service in Wîhkwêntôwin's old Wilfred's space.

The Oil Kings are home at Rogers Place at four against Victoria Royals — good afternoon hockey if you want to catch the game live or grab a screen somewhere. If live music is more your speed, Bear Ghost's playing the Starlite Room at seven with Sarah and the Safe Word and Spaceman Bob. There'll be a cover charge, but you're looking at solid alt-rock to close the weekend.

There's a lot of chatter this week about the referendum two days away, hospital wait times, and what services temporary residents are actually paying for — real stuff worth staying read up on, but today's Sunday. Do what feels right: get outside while it's still light, eat somewhere worth eating, catch some live hockey or music tonight before dark settles in early. By the time you're heading home, the sun will be gone.

Stay warm out there.
