Wednesday's chill is here—bundle up, watch the bus routes.

It's 0°C this morning, feels a couple degrees colder with the wind, so you'll want the real jacket today—not the hoodie weather we had going. Sun's out at 6:24 tonight, which means you've got just over ten hours of daylight to work with before the evening closes in. Not quite the deep freeze yet, but we're trending that way.

If you're catching Route 523, heads up: there's a planned detour running northbound from 99 St & 56 Ave up to 99 St & 62 Ave, and southbound it's shifting from 62 Ave down to 60 Ave. Nothing catastrophic, but it'll add a few minutes if that's your line, so leave a touch earlier if you can.

Sergent Morgan Wong, a quiet volunteer and leader at CFB Wainwright, was remembered this week by friends and colleagues after the recent fire at the base. People who knew him talked about how he was always there when people needed him—the kind of person who did the work without making noise about it. The investigation into that fire has also surfaced some hard questions about safety protocols that weren't followed in the hours before the blaze.

On the food front, there's some real momentum right now. Hazeldean Bakery just reopened in south Edmonton and people showed up in force to welcome the new owners—that's the kind of neighbourhood love that sticks. If you're craving something different, Elio's opened up on the south side with Filipino comfort food and a real gathering vibe to it. And if you're into ramen, Nomiya on Calgary Trail has reborn itself as Nom—same spot, elevated Japanese dining now. There's also a heads-up that Paperbirch by Chartrand at the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market is closing after two years, so if you've been meaning to catch them, the window's closing.

Tonite's got live music if you're staying out after work. W.A.S.P. is playing the Midway with KK's Priest, and there's Mike Plume and Jenny Orenstein over at The Starlite Room at Temple if you want something different. Both kick off at 7, so you've got time to grab dinner and make it. Since we're inside early tonight anyway, might as well lean into it.

Stay warm out there. See you tomorrow.
