Leduc County, Beaumont lift fire restrictions after heavy rain

Cooler temperatures and recent rainfall have allowed both municipalities to drop fire advisories that had been in place for weeks.

Leduc County and Beaumont have lifted fire restrictions and advisories as heavy rain and cooler weather reduced wildfire risk across the region.

Leduc County, which had been under fire restriction since May 4, announced the change Monday. Residents can now obtain fire permits for open burning when wind speeds stay below 20 km/h.

Beaumont lifted its fire advisory the same day after holding it since mid-May.

Both municipalities thanked the public for compliance during the restriction period and encouraged residents to continue practising responsible burning practices.
