Alberta Health Services issued a public alert Wednesday warning of possible hepatitis A exposure at Roasti Coffee Co., located on Brentwood Boulevard in Sherwood Park.
People who consumed food or drink prepared at the location on August 4 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., or on August 13 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., may have been exposed. Those affected are advised to call Health Link at 811 to assess their exposure and risk.
A post-exposure vaccine can prevent hepatitis A infection within two weeks of exposure. The vaccine is available through Health Link, and eligible individuals should contact the service immediately if they were present during the exposure windows.
Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection spread through contaminated water or food, or through close contact with someone who is infected. Symptoms include tiredness, poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, dark-coloured urine, and yellowing of the eyes and skin.
Anyone who believes they may have been exposed should contact Health Link at 811 for guidance on next steps.
