Sherwood Park actor Filip Fufezan made his television debut in Prime Video's Elle, a Legally Blonde prequel series, playing Caleb, a financially challenged high school student who contrasts with the protagonist Elle Woods.

Fufezan, an alumnus of Clover Bar Junior High School and Bev Facey Community School, initially expected a one-scene role. His character evolved to appear in six of the eight episodes in the first season, which premiered earlier this month. "He's a 16-year-old Grade 11 student who goes to Rainier West High, where Elle goes after she has to move to Seattle," Fufezan explained. "He's earnest, he's a little shy and he comes from a lower-income family, and I think this opens Elle's eyes to the realities of Seattle."

Fufezan first acted in school productions, with his junior stage role being in Legally Blonde: The Musical — a fitting bookend to now appearing in the franchise on screen. In Sherwood Park, he was part of schools' drama programs and performed with Festival Players, playing Harold Hill in their 2019 production of The Music Man. After graduation, he attended Studio 58, a theatre training program in Vancouver, and was cast in Elle shortly after completing his training.

Set in 1990s Seattle during the grunge era, the production immersed young actors in period detail. Fufezan researched the era through documentaries, films like 10 Things I Hate About You and Clueless, and a playlist of mid-'90s songs including Smashing Pumpkins' "1979" and Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box." The set itself featured period-accurate computer labs with large box models and decade-appropriate posters.

Fufezan credited Sherwood Park's arts programs with fostering his passion for acting. "The arts program at my junior high was so encouraging and empowering. The arts in Sherwood Park, especially at Festival Players, I learned a lot about discipline and artistry and my passion for it," he said. The series has already been renewed for a second season, though Fufezan couldn't confirm his involvement in future episodes. He has upcoming roles in development.
