Two Edmonton residents have been charged following a four-month St. Albert RCMP investigation into suspected drug trafficking between Alberta's two largest cities.

Kenneth Lee Ruth, 47, and Lindsay Ashley Slaby, 42, both face three counts of possession of a controlled substance for purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of prohibited weapon, and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Ruth faces additional charges of failing to comply with a release order and two counts of failing to comply with a weapons prohibition order. Both remain in custody pending judicial interim release hearings.

The investigation began in November 2025 based on criminal intelligence about wholesale drug transporters operating between Edmonton and Calgary. Over ten months, homes were searched in Edmonton, Calgary, St. Albert and Sturgeon County.

A search warrant executed at an Edmonton residence on July 23 yielded approximately 320 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 27 grams of suspected MDMA, 23 grams of suspected cocaine, $2,310 in probable cash, and two prohibited conductive energy weapons (tasers). The St. Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Unit received assistance from Edmonton Police Service, the RCMP Alberta Roving Traffic Unit, a Police Service Dog team, and the Alberta Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team.

Ruth was scheduled to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton on October 22. The allegations have not been proven in court. The outcome of Ruth's judicial interim release hearing was not stated at publication.
