Alberta has expanded its disabled parking placard system to include Albertans with severe vision loss, recognizing that accessibility needs extend beyond mobility challenges.
Under the change, those whose vision loss prevents them from driving become eligible for accessible parking spaces. Applicants must have a medical professional sign off on the placard request.
British Columbia and Saskatchewan have already expanded their systems to include vision-loss eligibility, placing Alberta in line with neighboring provinces.
