The provincial government has unveiled the official Alberta Whisky logo, a new mark designed to identify spirits made in Alberta with strict production standards.
Unveiled on Monday by Premier Danielle Smith and Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction Minister Dale Nally, the logo features Alberta landscapes, grains, and water within the provincial shield. The province says it was selected in collaboration with industry leaders.
"The new logo helps tell that story by giving whisky drinkers a trusted way to identify the world-class quality and craftsmanship behind every bottle," Nally said.
Only products made with 100 per cent Alberta water and locally sourced grains can use the Alberta Whisky designation or display the logo. Participation is voluntary. The branding follows the Alberta Whisky Act, which took effect in May and legally defines what can carry the Alberta Whisky label.
The province says the branding will help distillers compete globally, support farmers, and strengthen Alberta's reputation. Alberta has 45 distilleries, and local whiskies regularly win national awards.
