Amazon is bringing a new delivery station to northwest Edmonton. The company received a building permit from the City of Edmonton on June 17 for the project, which has an estimated construction value of $97 million.
The facility will be located at 16404 145th Ave. NW, just north of Twin Willows Golf Club, which is set to permanently close after this season. The site will be transformed into an industrial business park by Panattoni Development Co. Inc. and Manulife Investment Management.
A spokesperson for Amazon confirmed the project is still in early stages but will operate as a delivery station — the final stop in Amazon's logistics network where packages are sorted before heading out for delivery to customers. There is no estimated timeline for when the new centre will be in operation, but construction is expected to kick off this year.
News of Amazon's plans first surfaced in February, when Amazon Canada confirmed it had purchased land in the business park's second phase.
