Dog owner testifies in fatal mauling trial of 11-year-old boy

Crystal MacDonald says she sought training for her Cane Corsos and warned the boy's father before the April 2024 attack

The owner of two Cane Corsos that killed 11-year-old Kache Grist in April 2024 testified Friday that she had repeatedly told the boy's father not to leave him alone with her dogs. Crystal MacDonald, facing a charge of criminal negligence causing death, said she was working to get the unneutered dogs trained before the fatal attack at her Summerside home. Court heard the dogs, weighing 110 and 125 pounds, had severely injured a woman at MacDonald's home less than two months prior. MacDonald says she implemented stricter rules after that incident and was actively seeking professional training when the boy was fatally mauled during a spring break visit from British Columbia.
