Edmonton activated its extreme heat weather response Thursday at 9 a.m. and will keep it in place until Sunday at 9 a.m., as daytime temperatures are forecast to hit 29°C or higher for at least three days in a row.

The city will make potable water available at 29 water stations attached to fire hydrants across Edmonton. Peace officers will carry water bottles to distribute to especially vulnerable people, and anyone needing a break from the heat can use city facilities including libraries, pools, and recreation centres.
