A dock that broke free from Edmonton's shoreline during last weekend's flooding has been found far downstream, still intact with the boats that were tethered to it.

The Edmonton Rowing Club's dock, located at Buena Vista Park in the west end, tore away Monday when the North Saskatchewan River rose more than 1.5 metres and streamflow doubled in speed. Five metal boats chained to the dock went with it, along with plenty of debris pulled from the shoreline.

A crew from the TV show Fishing the Wild West, filming with Spruce Grove-based Lunkers Fishing Adventures, spotted the dock on Tuesday over 300 river kilometres downstream. The dock remained intact and all five boats were still attached, though most were full of silty water and the dock showed wear. It appears the dock became lodged along the shoreline near Two Hills, about 120 road kilometres east of Edmonton.

The same crew also discovered several boats belonging to the Edmonton Dragon Boat Recreation Club downstream. That club had separately reported seven dragon boats missing after their dock was torn away by the same Monday surge.
