Frank 'Pop' Ivy, one of the most successful coaches in Edmonton Elks history, has been named to the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame's 2026 class.
Ivy's tenure as Edmonton's head coach from 1954 to 1957 was brief but extraordinary. He posted a 50-14 regular-season record with a .781 win percentage — the highest in CFL league history. He led the Elks to a Grey Cup victory in his first season, the franchise's first championship, followed by three consecutive titles overall. Edmonton finished first in the Western Interprovincial Football Union in each of his four seasons.
Ivy is one of just three head coaches to post at least 10 wins in every season at the helm. His 14-game regular-season winning streak spanning 1954 and 1955 is tied for the second longest in CFL history. He was posthumously inducted — Ivy died in 2003 at age 87. The formal ceremony takes place September 17 in Hamilton, alongside five other inductees: receiver Brandon Banks, Canadian running back Sean Millington, defensive lineman Charleston Hughes, linebacker Calvin Tiggle, and running back Jim Evenson.
