Israel kills Hamas military leader behind Oct. 7 attacks

Israel's military announced Friday that it has killed Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the leader of Hamas' military wing and one of the architects of the October 7, 2023 attacks that sparked the Gaza war. Al-Haddad was among the last senior commanders in Hamas' military structure and had directed planning and execution of the attacks on Israel. He had assumed the role after his predecessor, Mohammed Sinwar, was killed.
