Lorna and Rolando Lavita are Alberta's newest millionaires after winning the June 6 Western 649 jackpot of $2 million.
When Lorna scanned the ticket in-store, she had to scan it twice to confirm what she saw, then called her husband over. "When we got home, our daughter couldn't believe us, and she looked up the winning numbers to see for herself," Lorna said. "I was shaking, I was so excited!"
The couple has rough plans for their newfound fortune, including purchasing real estate, making investments, and a family trip back to the Philippines.
Their winning ticket was purchased at a Petro-Canada located at 100 270 Baseline Road in Sherwood Park.
