Tuesday brought bright skies and blue weather to Edmonton after a brutal weekend, but the damage from more than 100 mm of rain lingers across the region.

Water levels in the North Saskatchewan River remain dangerously high. Erosion has carved away the riverbank, and signage near Capilano Park sits almost fully submerged. The high water created hazardous conditions on trails — Edmonton Fire Rescue Services responded Tuesday morning to pull a man out of the river after he slipped off a path. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In south Edmonton, saturated soil along Whitemud Drive gave way at the 122 Street overpass, sending an embankment collapse onto the freeway below. The Town of Tofield remains under a local state of emergency as flooding persists around businesses. Water restrictions for residents stay in place while pump trucks work to drain standing water.
