Some residents forced from their homes this week by a wildfire northwest of Edmonton are being allowed to return as conditions stabilize. Woodlands County officials announced that re-entry will begin for Zone 1 residents, while other evacuation zones remain in place. About 140 people were ordered to evacuate Monday due to the wildfire near Whitecourt. The fire, currently at approximately 51 hectares, remains active, so residents are being asked to sign waivers acknowledging the ongoing risk before returning to their properties.
